RECOMMENDED RUNNING GEAR

To help you prepare for the best race day experience, we have compiled a list of recommended running gear items available to purchase online.

Reuseable Race Cups

There are a wide variety of cups available, we recommend a small, lightweight, and soft cup that can easily collapse to fit in your vest, pocket, or runner's belt. This helps us not to use paper cups at the race, reducing waste.

Trail Running Shoes

A good pair of trail running shoes can make a huge difference in your running comfort and performance. You want a lightweight, good grip, and a comfortable fit.  Our favorite brands include Hoka and Altra, but we recommend visiting your local running store to try out the shoes.

Running Socks

Just like a good pair of shoes, you want good running socks that snugly fit, wick away moisture and are comfortable when running. A few of our favorite brands include Smartwool, Injini, and Balega.

Handheld Bottle

A lot of runners like to carry one or two running water bottles that grip onto your hands providing quick access to your water while being easy to refill at stations. Many include pockets for gels and gear.

Hydration Vest

If running a Half Marathon or longer distance a hydration vest can keep you going allowing you to carry a lot of water or your favorite electrolyte beverage along with pockets for gels and gear. Our favorite brands include Nathan, Camelbak, and Ultimate Direction.

GPS Watch

Wearing a GPS watch helps track your training and race progress while monitoring your vitals to help keep you informed and motivated on your runs.  Our favorite brands include Garmin, Coros, and Suunto.

Sunglasses

Sunglasses are vital in protecting your eyes over the long term. Having a good pair of sports sunglasses that are snug-fitting and comfortable helps protect your eyes while focusing on running. Our favorites include Oakley and Goodr.

Hats & Visors

Keep the sun off your face while running with a good lightweight hat or visor that also helps wick away moisture.  Don't forget to check out some New Global Adventures race hats.

Running Belt

The runner's belt is a vital gear piece that holds your essential items such as your phone, keys, and cash. They are flexible, yet snug around the waist to keep from bouncing around while running.

Running Shorts

A good pair of running shorts (and all running clothes) is essential for a comfortable running experience.

Sports Bras

For women, a good sports bra is vital to keeping comfortable and minimizing the risk of chafing while running.

Sports Underwear

Good sports underwear is vital to keeping comfortable and minimizing the risk of chafing while running.

Energy Gels & Chews

Keeping fueled up on your run is essential to ensure you have the energy needed to complete your race or run. Packing energy gels or chews is a great way to refuel the body during your run.  Our favorites include GU Energy and Honey Stinger.

Electrolytes

As we sweat during our run drinking electrolytes helps to rehydrate and replenish the body during the run. Gnarly Sports Nutrition is always served at our aid-stations as our official on-course hydration sponsor. Use code: NGA20 and save at Gnarly Sports Nutrition

Lip Balm

When you're out on the trails you are exposed to the elements, and lip balm does wonders for protecting your lips from sun and wind damage while keeping them hydrated. Especially on the longer distances it can make a big difference. Our favorite is Carmex.

Anti Chafing

There is nothing worse than experiencing chafing while running. These products will help to ease the friction.

Trekking Poles

On longer-distance trail runs with steep hills a pair of lightweight collapsible trekking poles can be used to help keep your balance while maintaining momentum in the race.

Night Lights & Safety

For those who train or run into the night having a good light is key to lighting your path and reflective gear helps others easily spot you.
