VALENCIA Trail Race postponed to 2022

Hello VALENCIA Trail Race Participants, Volunteers, Sponsors, and Friends,

The last several weeks have been showing great promise with pandemic numbers dropping and vaccines rolling out. Clearly, we could see progress was being made thanks to everyone’s effort to stop this pandemic, and we when heard that the State of California was going to issue an announcement for the re-opening of sports, we got super excited. We have been in regular communications with the USDA Forest Service and following Los Angeles County conditions closely, anxiously waiting for the green light to host the VALENCIA Trail Race.

Then last week, we read the new update guidance on recreation sports, which you can see here. There’s a lot of good news in there for some sports activities, but the bad news is that it specifically prohibits any races like ours, stating:

“this guidance does not apply to community events, such as marathons, half-marathons, and endurance races.”

Our hearts fell to the floor. Then today, we received official confirmation from the Forest Service that we will not be permitted to host on March 27th. This was painful to hear as we have been working to prepare on hosting the race, yet we know this is for the betterment of all of us getting ahead of this pandemic and putting it behind us safely and properly, so it does not come back, ever.

In reviewing our scheduled races for 2021 we have decided to postpone the VALENCIA Trail Race to next year on March 26, 2022.

We know this disappointing, but on the bright side, we can see the light at the end of this tunnel. As we progress ahead there will be new guidelines to open endurance events, the vaccine rollout is rapidly increasing, and all of this will get us back to running races in California safely.

We want to extend a huge thank you for your patience and understanding, your support is helping us get through these challenging times. We are anxious to get back to hosting our races and cannot wait to see all the smiling faces of our incredible running community. We promise you when it’s safe that we will bring you our signature race experience.

What happens with your race entry? All registered entries will be carried into the new March 26, 2022 date. If you are not able to make the new date, you have the following options:

  • Change to virtual and earn the race medal and swag in the mail
  • Defer to 2023
  • Cancel and receive 50% credit towards any future event of ours in California within the next 2-years
  • Donate entry to help support the race organization

If you wish to choose one of these options, please submit a request through our contact page.

In the meantime, you can show your support for the VALENCIA Trail Race by picking up our awesome Viking t-shirt and buff.

We sincerely miss seeing all of you, our race family brings us so much joy and love. Until then... stay healthy, keep running, and we will see you soon!

2020 RACE POSTPONED TO 2021

VALENCIA Trail Race postponed to 2021

Hello VALENCIA Trail Race Participants, Volunteers, Sponsors, and Friends,

We bring this announcement with a very heavy heart. Late on 10/28/2020, we received the final word from the USDA Forest Service and LA County Health Dept that we are not able to host the VALENCIA Trail Race on November 21st due to the continued COVID-19 pandemic progress in Los Angeles County.

We were very hopeful as the curve was trending down over the last few months and counties across the state were progressing to the next stage of opening businesses and allow gatherings.  However, in the last few weeks, the curve has reversed and the county has put on more restrictions for any type of public and private gatherings.

This means we are not able to host the 5th annual VALENCIA Trail Race on November 21st and are now forced to postpone the race to its original 2021 scheduled date of March 27, 2021.

We are deeply saddened as this is a very special trail race experience that we and you love, but we also want to support ending this pandemic as quickly as possible. We can't be foolish or stubborn when it comes to people's lives, with hundreds to thousands of people that are a part of our events, the welfare of participants including runners, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, family, and crew is always a priority at our events.

What happens with your race entry? All registered entries will be carried into the new March 27 date. If you are not able to make the new date, you do have the following options:

  • Change to virtual and earn the race medal and swag in the mail
  • Defer to 2022
  • Cancel and receive 50% credit towards any future event of ours in California within the next 2-years
  • Donate entry to help support us

If you wish to choose one of these options please submit a request or for questions please contact us.

This pandemic has forced our hands for 9-months into the Great Shutdown, we realize this is an inconvenience for everyone, we have poured so much effort and cost into preparing for the race only to have this pandemic force it to be postponed.

These are extremely challenging times for us and we sincerely appreciate your understanding, patience, and support as we ride through this pandemic to get back to hosting our awesome races. Let's all do our part to try and stop it, be smart, and stay safe.

In the meantime, show your support for the VALENCIA Trail Race with our awesome Viking t-shirt and buff that you can start wearing now.

We sincerely miss seeing all of you, our race family brings us so much joy at every race. Stay healthy, keep running, and we can't wait to see you on race day!

MAY 15th, 2020

Postponed to Nov. 21

2020 VALENCIA Trail Race postponed to November 21, 2020

Hello VALENCIA Trail Race Participants, Volunteers, Sponsors, and Friends,

We have received the final word from the USDA Forest Service and LA County Health Dept that we are not able to host the VALENCIA Trail Race on May 30th due to the extended COVID-19 mandate.

Originally when we postponed from March to May, we were hopeful that the COVID-19 curve would have completed its cycle through the peak and flattened out to be over by mid-May. Clearly, that is not the case, this pandemic is taking longer than anyone anticipated. Looks like it will only stop when everyone follows the guidance of staying at home and wearing masks when in public.

We don’t want to cancel any of our races unless we have no other choice. Our races matter for everyone and they are an important part of our lives. With that said, the 5th annual VALENCIA Trail Race will be postponed to November 21st, 1-week before Thanksgiving. Key factors for choosing the new date are avoiding the excessive heat of the Summer months and fitting into our race schedule in 2020. All entries will be carried into the new November 21st date.

We are hopeful that this date will stick, however, like everything in the world right now, this is entirely dependent on what happens in California and what the government mandates. We will not have a definitive decision until we get later into the year.

Thank you for your understanding in this challenging time. Stay healthy, keep running, and we’ll see you once things start to get back to normal.

2020 RACE DATE CHANGE

2020 VALENCIA Trail Race postponed to May 30, 2020

Hello VALENCIA Trail Race Participants, Volunteers, Sponsors, and Friends,

This is the announcement we were hoping that would never have to publish. Yet here we are going through a global COVID-19 pandemic together, like a bad dream, this is unknown territory that is playing with our health and the health of our loved ones.

In light of rapidly developing coronavirus situation and the announcement from California Public Health and Governor Newsom that all gatherings with 250 people or more should be rescheduled or canceled. We do not believe in canceling a race if there is a reasonable and safe alternative option. After careful review and consideration, we have decided to postpone the 2020 VALENCIA Trail Race from the March 28th date to now take place on May 30th, 2020.

This was not an easy decision to make. Yet, we can't be foolish or stubborn when it comes to people's lives, with hundreds to thousands of people that are a part of our events, the welfare of participants including runners, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, family, and crew is always a priority at our events. We feel this decision is the best option at this time while still allowing the 5th annual VALENCIA Trail Race to live on and bring you that awesome race experience that everyone loves.

If you are not able to make the May 30th date, you do have the option to change your entry to a virtual runner. To request a change or for questions please contact us at run@valenciatrailrace.com.

This is incredibly challenging for us as this is our livelihood and how we take care of our family, we work tirelessly to bring the community the best race events we can. These events would not be possible without you and everyone involved, we want everyone to be smart in this global health crisis, let's do our part to stop this virus in its tracks, then we can all get back together and enjoy awesome running experiences.

New Global Adventures would not have made it over the last 5-years without the tremendous amount of people in the community that has been supporting us and our events by being a participant or volunteering year after year. Your success at our races has been our success and we cannot overstate our appreciation for all the love and understanding we have received. We love our races as much as you love to be a part of them, we are in this for the long haul and plan to create awesome race experiences in the community for many years to come. We hope that everyone will follow the recommended safety guidelines, stay safe, and be healthy so you can come run with us soon.

Thank you for your support and understanding,

Terry, Jenny, Ryan, and the New Global Adventures Team
